World Missions

Tore and Liam Dobbie

Since her first short-term mission trip to Haiti in 2009, our own, Tore Dobbie has felt God's call on her life to serve Him in Haiti. In May 2015, Tore graduated from Georgetown College with a degree in International Business and Public Health. Tore and Liam have a passion for God and a passion for sustainable healthcare. They are combining these passions to meet both spiritual and the physical needs of the Haiti people. Their ministry includes visiting communities, talking to their leaders, developing community health plans, and bringing the Good News of God's love and grace.

Kristina Michelle Bower de Sanchez and Luis Diego

Kristina and Luis facilitate a Child Development program in alliance with their national office being FHICR and a network of sponsors through KFHI. They promote a Christ-centered worldview to churches, families, and community leaders in poverty stricken communities, and equip them to live out the priority of seeking that children's holistic needs be filled as they grow. They currently serve 300 children and their families, and over 30 volunteers, most are from their communities and learning for the first time what child development is in God's perspective.

Tony and Cindy Brewer

The Brewer family currently resides in Danang, Vietnam. Along with others, Tony and Cindy began the ministry of A Helping Hand Adoption Agency in 1995. In 2007, Tony and Cindy began Orphan Voice Ministries, a ministry that focuses on helping children world wide who are unadoptable. Their programs for vulnerable children include Christian Childern's Homes, anti-trafficking initiatives, care for special needs children and disaster relief efforts.
Tony currently serves as the execute director of Orphan Voice and Chair of the Board of Directors. Tony and Cindy are the proud parents of Jillian Marie, Anna Mei, Elizabeth, Faith and Joy Brewer.
Daybreak took a mission trip to Vietnam in 2013 and focused on construction, medical care, and being a light to those less fortunate in Vietnam.

Dr. Bill Becknell

Dr. Bill Becknell is a full-time missionary doctor in Russia. Agape goes to the "ends of the earth" to share God's love and provide medical and dental care to isolated, "unreached" people groups who know little of God and have no access to medical care. Agape always works with a local church that continues the work after they leave.
Agape also have a self-supporting, licensed medical and dental clinc in Moscow.

Nick Burtenshaw and Rubatsiro Ministries

Rubatsiro means “helping hands” in the Shona language (spoken in Zimbabwe) and we feel burdened to provide what help we can to those in desperate need. Rubatsiro Ministries provides food, clothing, blankets, medicines, assiatnce with medical and school fees, and Christian literature to widows, orphans, and pensioners in Zimbabwe.
Nick Burtenshaw, with Adrian Maarschalk, founded the Rubatsiro Trust in 2007 and is currently the Chairman of the Board. He has a deep passion and burden for the people of Zimbabwe and their ongoing struggles. Nick was born and raised in Zimbabwe and spent 24 years in the Pastorate in Zimbabwe before moving with his family to New Zealand in 2004. Nick currently pastors the Belmont Baptist Church in the North Shore, Auckland. Nick and his wife, Mel, have a daughter, Kate, and a son, Nathan.

Dean and Gail Davis

Dean and Gail have served with the One Mission Society since 1982. They served for over 12 years in Ecuador to the Saraguros Indians. There they were instrumental in the establishment of Good Shepherd Radio as well as a Bible institute ministry. They also served for five years in Quito, Ecuador where they were involved with church planting, educational ministry, and the shepherding of church leaders.
Dean and Gail now work out of the home office of OMS. Dean’s burden is to multiply local churches, which reproduce themselves through evangelism, discipleship and the training of leaders who start new churches. Dean has led Every Community for Christ since 2005. Through his leadership and God’s grace, 100s of 1000s of people have come to Christ in the last several years.
Gail directs the Member Development ministry of One Mission Society, which provides pre-field training for that equips missionaries, deployed across the globe, to thrive in cross-cultural ministry. Gail and Dean are parents of adult children, Nathan, Katy, and Carrie.
One Mission Society is an evangelical, interdenominational faith mission that makes disciples of Jesus Christ through intentional evangelism, planting churches and training national leaders in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America. OMS then joins with those churches in global partnerships to reach the rest of the world.

Gerardo and Bella Flor/Jehovah Shama

Gerardo Antonio Bonilla Piedra and Bella Flor Solís Badilla are pastors of Iglesia Jehová Shama in the impoverished La Tabla barrio of San Jose, Costa Rica. Daybreakers first met Bella Flor and Gerardo in 2005 while on a mission trip to Costa Rica. Daybreak's own, Scott and Dorothy Martin, where missionaries there with Food for the Hungry International (FHICR). FHICR was providing food through feeding centers, one being at Iglesia Jehová Shama.
At that time, Bella Flor and Gerardo were at the point of almost closing the church and ceasing their ministry. With a commitment of $200 a month, Daybreak enabled Jehová Shama to become an independent church, which we still support today. Since that initial mission trip, Daybreak has returned five more times to Costa Rica. Daybreak helped Jehová Shama purchase their first building and then add a second floor to it. On our last trip in 2009, Daybreak helped purchase a second building just a couple doors down, which became a sanctuary-much with the financial and physical help of Daybreakers.
Bella Flor and Gerardo have such a heart for the people in this slum area near San Jose. La Tabla is a community that police refuse to enter, but brave Daybreakers have. The Lord willing, Daybreak hopes to return to Costa Rica.

David and Hilda Fyock

As missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship since 1992, David and Hilda Fyock served 7 years in Albania and 5 years in Costa Rica. Currently, David is Executive Vice President at the MAF home office in Nampa, Idaho, where he manages the Finance, Aviation, IT, and Personnel Departments. He is a licensed airframe and powerplant mechanic, commercial pilot, and ordained minister. Hilda produces videos and works in the MAF Learning Technology Division. Dave and Hilda have two boys, Sean and Micah.
The aviation ministries of MAF share the love of Jesus Christ and meet the physical and spiritual needs of isolated people in 42 countries.

Edgardo Gamboa is the President of Food for the Hungry International in Costa Rica. Edgardo and Erika are also missionaries with GoAll Costa Rica, a division of Score International sports ministry.

Crystal King

Crystal King felt called to be a missionary when she was five years old. After finishing her training with Iris Global, she will be serving in one of their orphanages in South Sudan. The civil war in South Sudan has displaced over a million people from their homes, cost the lives of over ten thousand. Iris Global rescues children from the streets and nourishes them physical and spiritually.
Crystal will be doing weekly evangelistic outreaches and helping children learn to read.

Ghuna Kumar

Ghuna Kumar is an indigenous evangelist to his home country of India, where Ghuna's ministry is in the far southern tip of India. Ghuna was one of a handful of missionaries that Daybreak began to support when we started.
Ghuna's work through Gospel Friends of India includes the supervision of over 120 pastors, homes for orphaned and destitute children, new church formation and construction, sewing machine training and distribution, a theological college, medical clinics, and aid to Indian victims of the December 26, 2004 Tsunami.
Over 100 full time evangelists and pastors serve through Gospel Friends. They plant churches, often in villages where there has never been a church. Daybreak has built four churches in some of those remote villages.

Isabel Soto

Isabel Soto serves in San Jose, Costa Rica and is the leader of Casa Bethesda, a ministry with vision to holistically develop and help families form new community leaders. This ministry currently serves 35 families-mostly single mothers from low-income households. The ministry includes :

Bible studies to promote Christian values and spiritual growth
Technical workshops in sewing, cooking, jewelry making and other skills to increase financial opportunities and confidence
Bible studies and recreational artistic activities for children
Exercise and dance classes to promote healthy lifestyles for women
Monthly food donations

David and Marty Sperow

Dr. David and Marty Sperow are a husband and wife team that lived and worked as full-time missionaries in a small medical and dental clinic in the Honduran village of Canchias. When they returned to the United States, they organized La Cima World Missions to meet the medical and dental needs of third-world countries regardless of the risk. The motto of La Cima (Spanish for the summit) is "Dangerous Faith in Action." Through La Cima, the Sperows coordinate short-term medical and dental teams, equip hospitals and clinics with needed technology, sponsor training sessions, and provide disaster relief and medical evacuations.

Mark and Nube Vogan

Mark and Nube Vogan are OMS missionaries to the Saraguro Indians in Loja, Ecuador. Mark is from Ireland and Nube is from Cuenca, Ecuador. Mark is the Programming Director for Radio Hope and is responsible for maintaining the equipment inside the studio and the antennas outside. He also teaches evangelism classes at churches in the Loja Province. Nube produces three pre-recorded radio programs for Radio Hope: "Construction" for rural people, "Superbook" for children, and "Iron Will" for teaching English to youth. She also has a daily, live, call-in program called, "Go for it woman!" Mark and Nube has three children, Timothy, Debbie, and Sammy.

Nathan and Cydil Waggoner

     After thirteen years of working in campus ministry at Asbury University where they promoted missions and encouraged students to follow God's call, Nathan and Cydil Waggoner were led to follow God into full-time missionary work in Albania.
     In 2006, their connection to Albania was forever when they adopted their daughter, Ellie, from Albania. Nearly four years later, they adopted their son, Reni, also from Albania.
     The Waggoners moved to a village in Albania to work in the WGM ministry center. The ministry center hosts a variety of different programs for all ages (weekly discipleship groups, Bible club, coffee nights and classes like English and computers. Cydil is also using her gift of photography as a way to connect with the Albanians and bring the good news of Jesus to them.
