Just a short blog this evening. Not much to update.
I was more than thrilled yesterday when I was told that those little stem cells jumped into the bloodstream at a rapid base. 7 million in one day. Had that been the first day, that would have been enough for two transplants. The extra stem cells will be frozen and kept at least for 10 years. They would be used for research after that. The shots to encourage the stem cells to move into the bloodstream, especially the evening booster, were harder on my body than the months of chemotherapy. The off day today has helped calm down my body somewhat. It was like I was on fire. I finally slept some last night. I am still fighting an upper respiratory infection. I hope I am not the first person to die after a stem cell transplant due to a common cold! Friday is a significant day. We have an appointment with the doctor overseeing the transplant. He will make the final decision. If all is good, we will have some time to rest until the chemotherapy day on Tuesday. I have tried to write thank yous to everyone I knew had done something to get us on our way. But I know I have missed several folks. Gift bags were put in the car, as well as some other gifts of love, that I honestly have no idea who gave them. Please accept this as a very intentional thank you. The same would be true of cards that we have received. There is simply no way to thank every person who has sent us a card. Those are read and very much appreciated. Thanks for loving us.
